The SandWiCheRia Food Truck provides a hip and fast Peruvian Street Food experience. We offer delicious Peruvian-fusion street food including sandwiches and other regional favorites based on recipes that our award-winning chef adapted from his own Peruvian roots.

Founder and Executive Chef Jason Amado trained at the Natural Gourmet Institute of NYC and worked at several top New York, Montreal and Toronto restaurants before moving to Maplewood, NJ. Chef Jason has an  Accredited Food Manager Certification. For The SandWiCheRia menu, he draws on his family’s Peruvian heritage and his experience working for renowned Chefs David Burke and David Chang, to create dishes that have won prizes at cooking competitions.  He continuously receives rave reviews in food tastings across the Maplewood-South Orange community.

The Maplewood Chili Cook-off, a sold-out SOMA local event at The Woodland for 3 years, presents 33 different chilies with winners chosen by popular vote and special guest Chef.

 

During the 2017 and 2019 Chili Cook-off, Chef Jason Amado finished among the top 2 each year. In addition, he was awarded the Chef Choice Award for the most original and tasty chili by Celebrity Chili Taster Chef Jason DeBriere (Tacombi Restaurants) in 2017 and renowned restauranteur David Massoni (The Fox & Falcon) in 2019.
